News: The PlayStation Store Is Coming To The Web

News: THQ Files For Bankruptcy

Another one bites the dust…

THQ has filed for bankruptcy. According to a statement released this morning, THQ has entered into an Asset Purchase Agreement with affiliates of investment firm Clearlake Capital Group “to acquire substantially all of the assets of THQ’s operating business, including THQ’s four owned studios and games in development.” THQ notes that the sale will allow it “to shed certain legacy obligations and emerge with the strong financial backing of a new owner with substantial experience in software and technology.”

As part of the sale, THQ has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in U.S.…

News: Borderlands 2 “Hammerlock” DLC Revealed By Trophy Listing

Plants Vs. Zombies Developer PopCap Hiring For AAA Title

PopCap Games is hiring for a AAA console title. According to a job listing for a software engineer, the developer is seeking “an experienced generalist SE to build a AAA console title” in Burnaby, specifically noting that the position will involve working on “a broad range of game systems including, but not limited to: animation, audio, resource management, pipelines and visual effects.”

The listing adds that “the ideal candidate will also have experience working with the Frostbite 2 engine,” suggesting the game could involve the use of DICE’s Battlefield 3 engine, a version of which is also being utilized in Dragon Age III and the next Mass Effect sequel.…

News: The Last of Us Isn’t Done Yet
