Super Star Wars Will Release on PS Vita as Well as PS4, Cross-Buy Wins Again

Here’s something we didn’t expect: Super Star Wars will release on the PS Vita as well as the PS4. Wicked, right? The game has been reworked to include trophy support, something that just didn’t exist when it first released back in the days of the SNES.

It was announced to be part of the Star Wars Limited Edition PS4 Bundle some time ago, but it wasn’t clear that it was releasing on the PS Vita, too. For the record, each of the games included in the bundle will be available to buy separately, so you don’t need to go out and buy another PS4 to play the oldies. Phew.

There’s no word on individual price just yet, but we’ll keep you updated when we know more. The good news is that it’s cross-buy enabled which means if you buy it on the PS4, you automagically get it for your PS Vita. It’s a nice little surprise and the game’s 2D platforming is a great fit for the handheld device. It’s still a little weird though, you know, seeing as it was previously a Nintendo-only game.

[Update: Super Star Wars will release on PS4 and PS Vita tomorrow, November 17th.]

I’m confused. Is it a PS4 port then? Or a PS1 or PS2 classic? Or something different altogether?

    • Divinehand123

It is an updated port yes. It was never on a PS platform before.

      It’s like the re-released Genesis/Mega-Drive games on PS3, I suppose.

Cross buy is a beautiful thing. Thank You Sony

that way disney will get their invested money back. its a step of thousands to come.

Here’s hoping for more classics, then. It’d be great to see KoToR and Jedi Outcast get ported to the new consoles.

  • Trinity

So Sony’s just gonna sell a random SNES game (or 4) on the PS Store now..?
