The last-gen iterations of Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 really do look awful. Yes, we’ve all had a dig at Call of Duty in the past for having sub-par graphics on the last-gen systems, but with the jump to PS4/Xbox One, Call of Duty really did turn up some nice graphical enhancements. Granted, Ghosts wasn’t all that great, but Advanced Warfare was certainly a looker on the PS4 and Xbox One, heck, even the last-gen versions looked alright for what they were.
However, Black Ops 3 just looks downright awful. There’s a few screenshots down below from the game’s multiplayer mode. We see some truly terrible low-resolution textures and geometry with very low detailed maps. Bear in mind that these images are captured from a stream of the game so they’re not going to look their best, but even then, there’s no hiding the low quality release here.
Black Ops 3 doesn’t come with a campaign on PS3 and Xbox 360, only multiplayer and zombies, so it’s a bit of a let-down to see that it just doesn’t look all that great.
It’s worth noting Black Ops 3 has a large day one patch and that these images aren’t displaying what the game would look like without the patch.
There’s also a bit of gameplay down in the videos down below from the multiplayer and zombies modes. To be fair though, zombies doesn’t look too bad, so maybe there’s some saving grace in that. Then again, the game is only $10 cheaper than the full experience on the next-gen consoles and PC, so players will probably feel a little more than aggrieved when this shows up on November 6th.
