Arguably one of the best-designed shinies from Generation 1, Ponyta is understandably a fan favourite when it comes to shinies. So it’s no wonder you’ll be asking yourself if Ponyta can be shiny in Pokemon GO? Some Pokemon don’t have a shiny just yet in the game – whilst others do. But worry not, Ponyta can indeed be found as a shiny in Pokemon GO.
Ponyta is a Fire Pokémon. It is vulnerable to Ground, Rock and Water moves. Ponyta’s strongest moveset is Ember & Fire Blast and it has a Max CP of 1,697. Ponyta evolves into Rapidash.

Shiny Ponyta in Pokemon GO
Yes, you get a shiny Ponyta in Pokemon GO. However, it might not be as easy as you think. Although the odds aren’t quite as low as in the base Pokemon games, it’s still usually a 1 in 500 chance that you’ll find a shiny. And even then, it doesn’t guarantee it’ll have good stats – so you’d have to be truly lucky to get a shiny with good stats.
That being said, Spotlight hours make these shiny hunts even easier. And with Ponyta being a May Spotlight Pokemon, your chances are even higher – so you’ll just have to cross your fingers and hope luck is on your side!
To evolve Ponyta into Rapidash, you’ll need 50 Ponyta candies, which you can also use to power the Pokemon up.
