The Blue Blur games have previously hosted entertaining multiplayer modes within Sonic The Hedgehog 2 on the Sega Megadrive/Genesis and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. However, does Sonic Frontiers also have multiplayer? Read on to find out.
- Will Sonic Frontiers change how Sega develops the series going forward?
Is Sonic Frontiers Co-op?

Being able to explore each open zone in Sonic Frontiers with a buddy sounds exciting. Despite the promise of something like this occurring, Sonic Frontiers does not support multiplayer of any kind. There isn’t even a competitive element like in the Sonic Rivals series on the PSP. Sonic Frontiers is fully single-player and nothing more.
Whether or not this could be added in a future patch remains to be seen. With how active the Sonic the Hedgehog mod scene is, however, we can foresee an unofficial update in the future for the PC version of Sonic Frontiers.

Are There Any Current Co-Op Platformers To Play?

There are plenty of co-op platformers you can check out on multiple consoles. For example, Rayman Legends is an underrated 2D platformer that has creative puzzles and platforming challenges within a gorgeous art style. The levels also feel unique and aren’t tied to the typical biomes we see in traditional Mario and Sonic games from the past.
If you’re looking for something more of the 3D platformer variety, Sackboy: A Big Adventure is an adorable co-op affair with customizable outfits, creative levels, and overall pleasant graphics. It’s a hidden gem and just launched on Steam for PC owners. It’s also playable on PS4 and PS5.
Something else you should check out is It Takes Two. In fact, this game can only be played by two people. One person can buy the game, and the other will be able to join in for free. The adventure has so many clever puzzles and quirks that will entertain you throughout. It keeps surprising you with all manner of challenges that keep the game fresh.
