How To Find A Minecraft End Portal
Minecraft End Portals are exclusive to Strongholds. The only place you can find an End Portal in Minecraft is in the Portal Room of these intricate underground structures.
While it’s possible to stumble upon a Stronghold by chance, the most effective method of finding Strongholds in Minecraft is tracking them down with Eyes of Ender. Toss out an Eye of Ender, and it will fly in the direction of the nearest Stronghold. Once you’re close by, the Eye of Ender will travel downward, indicating that the Stronghold is beneath you. Don’t forget to go and collect your Eye of Ender after throwing it out! That is if it doesn’t shatter in mid-air.
To create an Eye of Ender, combine an Ender Pearl dropped by Enderman and a Blaze Powder available via Blaze Rods in the Nether.
Once inside a Stronghold, navigate the complex, subterranean structure until you come across the Portal Room. In the Portal Room, you’ll find a staircase leading up to an End Portal Frame floating over a pool of lava. Also, in the Portal Room staircase is a Silverfish Spawner.

How To Build A Minecraft End Portal
Survival Mode
In Survival Mode, you don’t technically build Minecraft End Portals as you activate them. When you first encounter an End Portal, it isn’t going to be turned on. To trigger it, you must fill all twelve End Portal Frame blocks with Eyes of Ender. If you’re lucky, sometimes one or more blocks will already contain an Eye of Ender. Once you insert an Eye of Ender into an End Portal Frame block, you cannot remove it.
When all twelve End Portal Frame blocks are filled with Eyes of Ender, the End Portal will open a pathway to the dark, void dimension that is The End.
Creative Mode
In Creative Mode, you can build a Minecraft End Portal yourself. To construct an End Portal Frame, place down twelve End Portal Frame blocks in a ring with a 3×3 opening in the centre. The End Portal Frame blocks need to be oriented correctly, with the front face of each block pointing inward, or the End Portal will not work. To trigger the End Portal in Creative Mode, you still need to insert an Eye of Ender into each of the End Portal Frame blocks.
With that, you now have everything you need to find and build a Minecraft End Portal. Once inside The End, there are only two ways out: defeat the almighty Ender Dragon — or die trying. So, make sure you’re fully prepared for the challenge before you activate an End Portal and jump in!
