Battlefield 4 is coming, we’ve all known it for a while now and over the last 12 hours or so there’s been leaks of the first images and trailer for the military shooter.
Now EA and DICE have officially released a 17 minute video of actual Battlefield 4 gameplay taking place in the games single player campaign mode.
Check out the video below:
If it all looks very familiar, that’s because it is. There’s not much change in graphical fidelity between Battlefield 4 and it’s predecessor Battlefield 3, though DICE assures us that the engine has been upgraded and Battlefield 4 will run on the improved Frostbite 3.0 game engine, allowing more destruction, higher quality environments, realistic character motions and much more.

Also worth a note, it seems that DICE are working hard on the single player campaign for Battlefield 4, which can only be a good thing after the somewhat boring and lackluster campaign presented in Battlefield 3. Of course the majority of hardcore Battlefield fans don’t give a toss about the single player experience, for them it’s all about the online multiplayer, but if Battlefield 4 intends to compete with Call of Duty, it needs to pull the story telling higher and match Call of Duty on all levels, not just multiplayer.
Personally, I’ve never been a big Battlefield fan but if there’s more effort being put into the single-player experience, this may be the first time I actually care about the series outside of its multiplayer offering.
