Bad news for those of you who haven’t made the expensive step into the next-generation of home consoles: Halo 5 won’t be shipping on the Xbox 360.
So those of you clinging on to your Xbox 360 in the hope of getting the latest installment in the Halo series, Halo 5: Guardians, you’re just going to have to pony up the cash if you want to play it.
Writing on the Xbox Wire news page, 343 Industries General Manager Bonnie Ross puts things into perspective and explains the reasoning behind Halo 5‘s launch on the Xbox One.
“In the past, “Halo” games have pushed the Xbox forward, showcasing the console and its ecosystem in entertaining and innovative ways. Making a “Halo” game that runs at 60 frames per second, on dedicated servers, with the scope, features and scale we’ve been dreaming of for more than a decade, is non-trivial. It’s a task that we, at 343 Industries, are taking very seriously to ensure we deliver the “Halo” game that fans deserve, and a game that is built from the ground up for Xbox One.”
On one hand it’s disappointing for players to see that Halo 5: Guardians wont be available for the Xbox 360, but at the same time it must come as a relief knowing that 343 will be doing everything possible to make it the best game possible without having to think about cut-backs being made for the Xbox 360 version.
