Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Iono: Electric Type Gym Leader, And A Streamer
Iono has been revealed to be the electric gym leader of the Paldea region, appearing in both Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Where in the game she appears is unknown, but we do know that the gyms can be tackled in any order so she isn’t necessarily an early or late-game gym leader. Many previous electric gym leaders played a big part in the games they appeared in, and considering Iono has received her own reveal trailer, she is likely to be an important character too.
Being a gym leader isn’t Iono’s only role, it seems, as her reveal trailer appears as an in-game stream. Iono is a streamer and an influencer in the world of Pokemon, whatever that might mean. Her show is frenetic and colourful, which seems to be representative of her personality. Whether there will any more streams from her, potentially in the games themselves, is yet to be known. It isn’t unusual for a gym leader to also be some degree of a celebrity, Iono just ties that aspect into real-life pop culture a little more.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Iono: Her Mystery Partner
Iono’s reveal stream came with a mystery. Iono herself challenged the viewers to guess the identity of her partner Pokemon. Some clues were given as to what this Pokemon is, but the answer was not revealed. We will have to wait to learn exactly what kind of Pokemon her partner is, but in the meantime, we have these clues to go on:
- Electric type
- Squishy
- Sluggish pace, easygoing
- Two bumps on the head
- Its body expands and contracts to make electricity
- Very cute
If this were an existing Pokemon, you would imagine that the collective knowledge of the internet would have figured it out immediately. However, the lack of an obvious answer sprawled across threads or comment sections would suggest this is a new Pokemon that players have not seen yet. The answer was promised for the next stream, but no indication was given when or if that will happen. We will just have to wait and see.
