Die, die, try again
Super Rare Originals and YCJY Games have announced that the colourful, old-school inspired shooter Post Void will be releasing on PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch this Spring, though an actual release date remains as elusive as my Valentine’s Day date.
Post Void is… something. It’s a first-person shooter that looks as if every early 90s shooter was blended together with a tub of multi-coloured paint (they make it, it’s called Tartan paint) and then dosed up a crate of Red Bull. It looks bonkers, basically.
The game’s premise is a simple one: in one hand you have your gun, in the other hand you have your idol that holds your health. Kill bad guys to keep your health, er, healthy, but never stop. Slow down and you die and there are no do-overs. It’s game over. That’s how old-school we’re talking.
Well, maybe not completely old-school. You get upgrades that make each new run a little easier, so it’s a rogue-like at heart, but it’s with all the sentiment of an old-school Doom-style shooter.
Post Void is already out now on Steam where it has amassed over 6000 positive reviews from players, so this might be worth keeping an eye on if you’re a glutton for punishment. I’ll stick to my morning Sudoku puzzles, thank you very much.
