Last week, we reported that developer OtherSide Entertainment teased a new entry in the much loved System Shock franchise. We can now report that System Shock 3 has been officially announced as in development in an update sent out via newsletter. Yay!
Included in the newsletter was a brief survey that asked some interesting questions of System Shock fans. One of those questions is the preferred platform on which you play. If you’re like some of our Cabineers and are head over heels in love with the PS Vita, you’ll be sad to see that the platform doesn’t feature, but you can make your voice heard about your desire for a Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4, Mac, or “Other” edition of System Shock 3. Note that the Wii U is conspicuously missing from that list. Poor thing.
Another interesting question asks users to rate their interest in virtual reality on a scale of 1 to 10. Does that mean there’s a chance for VR support in System Shock 3? That would be par for the course for this new era of VR-focused games development.
That’s all the info that was given in this more official announcement, but we’re sure that more is on the way. Stay tuned!
